Project-Based Learning

Project-based learning is founded on the principle that students learn best when academic lessons are built upon prior student knowledge. To enhance the learning experience, the student is presented with new lessons as a part of a problem solving experience. The learning experience is still further enhanced by having the four core subjects (Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math) all participate in the same theme at the same time.

There have been relatively few schools that have achieved this level of teaching. Those that have provided this experience to the students have found that learning is enhanced beyond any other form of teaching.

So if Project-based Learning works so well, why don't all schools do Project-based Learning?

The simple answer is time. During the current economic times, Teachers and Administrators are fully involved in meeting the needs of students and little time exists to design new, integrated teaching units.

Teachgold. com has been designed to meet this need. Our Master Teachers have designed a series of Project-based instructional units that are based upon state and federal standards where each unit of instruction follows a central theme. As the students solve the problems in the theme, the four main subject teachers work together to enahnce student learning.
