The primary pusuit of educators is to ensure that all students that graduate from our schools have received instruction in a basic set of skills that allow the students of today to be good citizens of tomorrow. Standards at the state and federal level define the minimum level of understanding that students should attain at various grade levels.

Standards ensure a level of accountability for teachers and students. Where standards-based instruction is emphasized, students understand the goal of each unit and teachers are accountable to the student, to their fellow educators, and to the community to ensure that all students meet the minimum educational stipulated in the standards.
